Home Remedies for Constipation

As we search for home remedies for constipation, let’s keep in mind what some of the chief reasons for constipation are:

  • ‘Holding’  it for too long
  • Not chewing food properly
  • Eating too much refined foods

Some of  the BEST and SIMPLEST home remedies for constipation are very easy and actually just changing some bad eating habits such as:

  • Drinking more water ( drink half as many fluid ounces of water as your weight in pounds)
  • Cut back on sugar
  • Eat lots of fiber
  • CHEW your food when you eat it!

Home Remedies for Constipation

Take 2 Tablespoons of Blackstrap Molasses each night before going to bed…( molasses is also an excellent source of energy and iron)

My favorite home remedy for constipation and I have done this for years: Get the hottest BTU of cayenne you can get. ( I like to use the 100,000 btu kind) Fill your own capsules with it and take one every morning with breakfast. MAKE SURE TO EAT SOMETHING WITH IT or you will have heartburn as these are very strong!

Drink 1/2 cup of cabbage juice twice a day to help cure constipation.

For almost IMMEDIATE relief of constipation, mix 1/4 tsp of Epsom salts to half a glass of water and drink. I would not consider this home remedy for constipation a solution, but simply a quick relief. MAKE SURE TO BE CLOSE TO A BATHROOM WHEN TRYING THIS METHOD AS YOU WILL NEED TO USE IT!

Mixing half a cup of olive oil with half a cup of orange juice with also relieve constipation in a short time.

Drinking 4 – 5 cups of water in the morning before eating anything has been proven to be very effective in not only curing constipation but also in losing weight, giving you healthy skin and just overall is a very healthy practice.

Chewing 1/2 cup almonds a day helps with constipation.

Eat a bunch of grapes and drink a glass of milk before going to bed, then in the morning before you eat anything else, drink a glass of orange juice (with pulp) … you should be visiting the bathroom in about an hour.

PURE maple syrup works for some people ( it does for me!) – Mix with peanut butter and eat a good spoonful every morning. It is one of the most delicious home remedies for constipation! :)
